Keeping up with all the latest technology can be a little difficult. Wearable tech, specifically smart watches, are about 2 years old and most second generation models have been released, i.e. Apple Watch Series 2. Which means they are out of ‘beta’ and are a little more stable. But the questions still remains, should you buy an Apple Watch?
After owning one for about 2 weeks now, I have made my consensus. The Apple Watch, or any smart watch really, is just… an accessory for your smartphone. I have found myself downloading only a few apps to it, the majority of the functionality comes pre-installed. And if I could sum up the whole device in a few words, ‘notifications on your wrist.‘ If you are thinking of buying one that should be your main reason and anything else you end up using it for are bonuses. Yea its handy to be able to switch songs right from your watch while at the gym, or seeing the weather with a quick flick of the wrist, but the only time I have found it to be extremely useful is if my phone rings or I get a notification while the phone is in another room and I take the call on my wrist which I would have missed otherwise.
You can relate smart watches to taking supplements and going to the gym. The smart watch is just a supplement, and if you think it is going to replace your phone, i.e. the gym, you are going to have a bad time.
With all that being said, I still love my Apple Watch, so far. If you are still thinking of getting one, I highly recommend it.
